Parks and Resorts. It is The Walt Disney Company’s division which conceives,
manages and builds the company's vacation resorts and theme parks, also as well
as a variety of additional leisure enterprises that is mostly family-oriented. It is one of
the 4 major units of this company, the other 3 being Media Networks, Studio Entertainment,
and Consumer Products.
Walt Disney Parks and Resorts division was founded as Walt Disney Attractions in 1971
when Disney's 2nd theme park, the Magic Kingdom that is situated at the Florida’s Walt
Disney World Resort, opened, joining the famous original Disneyland in California.
James A. "Jay" Rasulo is the famous chairman of Walt Disney Resorts and Parks, and
formerly the chairman of Paris Disneyland Resort.
The famous Disneyland was founded as a single park in 1955 by Walt Disney in Anaheim,
California
And in 2001, this area was officially named the Disneyland Resort just with
the opening of Disney's Adventure Park in California, the Downtown Disney entertainment,
retail, and dining district, and two new resort hotels. And the fiftieth anniversary of
Disneyland was celebrated on July 17, 2005.
